Basic Steps to Safety
Upon Arrival
An in-room safe is provided free of charge for your convenience. We recommend its use whenever possible.
Become familiar with your room, the door lock and the location of useful items for emergencies, such as the phone, wastebasket, ice buckets, towels and a chair.
Check the hotel floor plan on the back of your room door. Note the red arrow indicating the direction to the nearest fire exit.
Always put your key in the same place.
If You Hear a Fire Alarm
Feel the door. If the door is not hot, open it and exit quickly, taking your room key. Proceed down the corridor to the nearest exit. Calmly walk down the stairs until you have reached the fire exit door, and then exit the hotel.
If the Door is Hot, DO NOT OPEN IT – Proceed as Follows
Stay in your room.
Fill the bathtub with water.
Soak towels and place them under the doors.
Continuously pour water on the doors.
Never jump if above the second floor.
Mark your window by hanging a sheet or towel.
If You Discover a Fire
Report to hotel security. Dial 59. Give your name and the location of the fire.
Traveling Outside of the Hotel
Because New Orleans is a tourist destination city, we would like to advise you to take the necessary steps for your safety and security while visiting the French Quarter or other areas of the city. The necessary steps include staying on well-lit and well-trafficked streets, traveling in numbers or in groups, and being aware of your surroundings at all times.
